Local favorite Justin
Barcia didn't win but
he did get close.
After struggling with consistency over the course of the last few
races, Justin Barcia delivered a
solid runner-up finish to the delight of a hometown crowd. The
fans rallied behind Barcia's podium appearance after his second in moto two and the New
York-native spent over an hour
outside his motor home signing
autographs after the race.
"I love it here," said Barcia. "It
makes me happy to be here to
see all the fans. It feels good to
get back to the fans and there
are so many people I've seen that
used to race with me in 65s and
it's an awesome feeling."
Despite nursing a sore wrist
and finger, Barcia battled with
Trey Canard and Andrew Short
in moto one to ultimately finish
fourth. He bettered that in moto
two, where he took advantage of
a great start to run second behind Villopoto for the entire distance of the moto.
"At Washougal, I hurt my wrist
and my finger so I didn't get to
ride that much at home," said
Barcia. "It's starting to get better
now and Thursday during press
day was like the first day I got to
ride a lot."
