CN III VOICES P20 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR "Road racing with different equipment does nothing for our future in the sport." The Sound Of Silence I enjoyed Gerry Alden's letter on adding sound to the Zero motorcycle. I understand how having the bike make some sound when you want it to is desirable, but I think it would be kind of dorky to really add recorded motorcycle exhaust sounds, though - sort of like adding a Vroom Motor to your bicycle (and as a kid I used clothespins and baseball cards in my bicycle wheels that would be worth a fortune nowadays, so how smart am I?). If they came out with an XR750 sound, my opinion might do a 180 though. Still, you could have some fun with it. Why not have it play music? "Ride of the Valkyries" would be perfect to roll in with. "Born to Be Wild" is off limits, however. Or you could have it yell something like "Get the hell out of the way!" or have it make Chitty Chitty Bang Band sounds or even blast a diesel truck horn. Can a Mr. Microphone be that much of a stretch from there? I love Tuesdays when your "paper" comes out... and thanks for the smile, Gerry. Roger Falasco Via the Internet No Tesi Fan Why on earth would you devote 10 pages to the review of a hideous, impractical vehicle, which none of us can buy, like the Bimota Tesi? Are you obligated to publish every article that Alan Cathcart submits? Jim Hunter Via the Internet Hayden Lookalike At first glance I saw what appeared to be a photo of Roger Hayden on page 103 (Issue 29, July 23), but I was puzzled because this guy had 10 fingers and I was quite sure that Roger was a digit short. I stared at that thing for a good five minutes before I realized it was actually James Rispoli. It must just be that particular pose because I've never seen a resemblance before, but in that picture it's uncanny. Kevin Miller Pleasant Hill, IA No Yanks In MotoGP Here I sit watching Moto3 and these kids are riding 250cc bikes. I watched Moto2 earlier and those kids are riding CBR600RRs. Sorry to be so behind, but is the AMA trying to groom young men and women to compete against the best in the world? I don't see it. The same manufacturers that build the Moto2/Moto3 bikes build the bikes that are raced in the U.S. Not sure, but maybe the AMA is scared of the world venue? There are dirt bikes in everyone's garage (everyone that reads this great magazine) that could be retrofitted to race on a road course. I'm rambling at this point, but why not race the same bikes that are on the world stage? Kenny Roberts has a plan. Let's get on board and put the USA back at the top of this sport. Motocross has continued to stay on a level playing field, take note AMA. Road racing with different equipment does nothing for our future in the sport. Just sayin.'
