ROUND 5 / JULY 7-9, 2023 WEATHERTECH RACEWAY LAGUNA SECA / SALINAS, CALIFORNIA ROAD RACE I FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIP P78 The King of the Baggers saw Hayden Gillim and Kyle Wyman (H-D Screamin' Eagle) take the wins, with Wyman also taking the $5000 three-lap Challenge race. And in the Super Hooligans class, Ulsterman Jeremy McWil - liams Indian Motorcycle/ Pro- gressive/ Mission Foods Indian FTR1200) came good with his first double win of the season and now ties with teammate Tyler O'Hara at 106 points for the series lead. There were no Junior Cup or Stock 1000 races at Laguna Seca. Superbike Two wins from three starts made for a near-perfect home- coming for Cameron Beaubier. In his first meeting back at Laguna Seca in two years, the northern Californian put his BMW M 1000 RR on pole but his chance of three home wins were dashed after turn two of lap one in race one, when hoelshot - 2 JOSH HERRIN 2-3-2 SUPERBIKE "Super good weekend," Josh Herrin said. "I'm a little bummed we didn't come out of this weekend with a win as this is Ducati's local track to the U.S. headquarters, and for it being one of my favorite tracks. But to be on the podium in each of the three races, I'm really happy. It was great to lead so much of the last race. It was a great battle with Cam (Beau- bier) and Jake (Gagne), and I'm just so happy with life at Ducati and riding this Panigale V4 R." 12 XAVI FORES 1 SUPERSPORT "It was a great race for me today," Xavi Fores said. "The pace was better than I expected after a couple of crashes this weekend and not the best feeling with the bike, but we found a good solution and could maximize our potential. I was pushing really hard before the pit stop. I was feeling good but I was still having issues with the front end. The guys did a massive job in the pit stop and that's where we won the race. It's my eighth win in a row, an all-time record in this class, so I couldn't be happier." MYOWNRACE (Above) The King and I. Kenny Roberts made his usual pilgrimage to Laguna Seca and is seen here with Beaubier on the line for race three.
