late-race red flag, after which the restart injected Mission Roof Systems' Brandon Rob- inson and Daniels' Estenson Racing Yamaha teammate, JD Beach, into the equation. Bauman used the opportunity to secure second, while Daniels had to get desperate to work back past Robinson to ultimate- ly keep his now 12-race podium streak intact in third. Daniels' heroics sank Robin- son's podium bid by just 0.084 seconds with Beach less than a second behind in fifth. Billy "The Kid" Ross, backed by Mission Foods and Roof Systems like Robinson, but mounted on a Kawasaki instead of an Indian, came home with his best premier-class finish yet in sixth. He was followed by JMC Racing's Jarod Vanderkooi, Rackley Racing's Davis Fisher, Lewis topped the opening practice, posted the fastest time in qualifying, won his heat, and then took it to both Mees in Daniels in the four-lap Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge. After a promising start, Lewis suffered a race long tumble down the order in the main event, finally finishing in 12th. "It was going perfect. We were first or second all day. I could run the thing in and just get enough of a bite with a little bit of moisture. I had a line that was work- ing, and it even worked in the dash. But then the track glazed from top to bottom, and my line just wasn't there anymore. Literally just gone. That definitely made it tough. We strug- gled. I tried everything I could. It was a bummer, but it was also a really good day overall." 88 CHASE SAATHOFF 2ND SINGLES Turner Racing Honda's Chase Saa- thoff, said, "Today was not the best. We started off good in practice and qualifying and then fell off in the heats. We still had fast times but weren't where we wanted to be and got a second-row start for the main. I almost died like three times off the first start. MYOWNRACE Briar Bauman and his team have found the proper setup on his KTM to be consistently competitive and enjoyed another podium finish in New York. Bauman is currently third in the championship.
