ROUND 5 / JULY 1, 2023
REDBUD MX / BUCHANAN, MICHIGAN
MOTOCROSS I AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP / SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
P64
128 TOM VIALLE
5TH (9-2) 250MX
Tom Vialle used his MXGP experi-
ence to land on the box in the second
moto. "I had some difficulties in the
first moto with a couple of crashes
and could only finish in ninth. Second
moto was again way better, I finished
second in that moto after some good
fights, so lots of positives again."
241 DAXTON BENNICK
10TH (10-9) 250MX
Daxton Bennick made his pro debut
at RedBud to get his feet wet in the
professional ranks before the Loretta
Lynn Amateur National later this
summer. "It was a good first pro race.
I came into the weekend with no ex-
pectations, really. I got a pretty good
start that first moto and ended up
10th. Then in the second moto, I did
not get a good start, and I had to fight
hard through the pack and ended up
ninth. So, 10-9 on the day; I'm really
happy with how I rode."
MYOWNRACE
450MX
Lawrence is still the man to
beat. And still, no one can.
Even with familiar faces like
Honda HRC teammate Chase
Sexton and Kawasaki's Jason
Anderson rejoining the series,
Lawrence left RedBud still
undefeated in 2023. He set
the tone in practice with a lap
that was nearly two seconds
quicker than anyone else. In
the motos, he laid down two
holeshots, led 33 laps, and set
the fastest time to confirm that
he is currently in a field of his
own. The number-18 is now 10
for 10 in moto wins so far this
summer. Although the wins
appeared to come easy for the
young Aussie, Lawrence admit
-
ted they weren't.
"I struggled to find my flow
in that second one," Lawrence
said. "And it was at the worst
time because Dylan [Ferrandis]
was right behind me. I didn't
even know he was there at
first but once I saw the pit
board, I knew I had to step it
It was another
perfect weekend for
Jett Lawrence in the
450MX class.
Dylan Ferrandis held off
Chase Sexton, who was
back in action for the
first time since round
one, for second overall.
