The two traded haymakers while swap- ping lines throughout, even as five-time Lima winner (and co- promoter) Mees shadowed them from right around a second back, just waiting for an opportunity to strike. Bauman was relentless for the full distance and ultimately shattered Daniels' determined bid to secure a career-first Half- Mile win. The Parts Plus/Jacob Companies-backed KTM pilot made a late push through traf - fic with a minute remaining on the clock, which allowed him to stretch open just enough space to prevent any desperate last-lap attempts on the Estenson Rac- ing Yamaha rider's part. He came home in sixth position and ahead of some strong private Indians, most notably those piloted by the likes of Davis Fisher and Jarod Vanderkooi. He said, "Long day. We qualified eighth and had a couple little issues throughout the day and [I] was never really feeling great. We changed a lot for the main event, and it came around. We were on the second row and came away with our best finish of the year." 19 JAMES OTT 3RD AFT SINGLES A strong start to the season by 1st Impressions Husqvarna Racing's James Ott's had been derailed in recent weeks.
