ROUND 4, JUNE 23-25, 2023 THE RIDGE / MASON COUNTY, WASHINGTON ROAD RACE I MOTOAMERICA / FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIP P86 1 JAKE GAGNE 1/2 SUPERBIKE "I got off to another great start for race two and had some clean open- ing laps," Jake Gagne said. "About halfway, I got passed, and I couldn't hold the pace to make a run for the win and had to bring it home in sec- ond. Overall, it was a good weekend, and we got some good points. We're looking forward to Laguna." 97 ROCCO LANDERS 3/1 TWINS CUP "The bike was working amazing," Rocco Landers said. "Robem Engi- neering/Rodio Racing worked really hard to make the thing work as good as possible. I don't even think we made a change since qualifying one. The thing has just been on rails all weekend. I felt good. The thing felt like it was just doing whatever I want- ed. The wind was a bit gnarly—felt like it was kind of screwing with the front end, especially long corners. But on the track, we've been unde- feated this season on paper, though some would say different. But I see no reason why we can't continue this momentum into Laguna." MYOWNRACE Herrin was second for the first lap-and-a-half but a false neutral dropped the reigning Supersport champion down to eighth, setting the scene for a riveting fightback onto the podium by race's end. Beaubier eventually filtered through to second, he and Gagne building a five-second gap back to third-placed Mathew Scholtz (Westby Rac- ing Yamaha). With three laps remaining the four-time Mo- toAmerica Superbike Champion mounted his attack but it all came unstuck at the turn-one chicane, Beaubier losing the front and crashing but eventu- ally remounting for seventh. That promoted Scholtz to second and Herrin to third, but more importantly it gave Gagne a 37-point lead in the series Finally, in the Royal Enfield Build. Train. Race. program, Mi- kayla Moore made everyone else look silly with two dominant wins. There were no Stock 1000 or Junior Cup classes held at The Ridge. Superbike Coming into The Ridge, Beaubier was just 12 points off the series leader, Gagne, and had every intention of eating into that lead with a win in race one. That wasn't to be, however. It was polesitter Josh Herrin (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC) who led into the turn-one chicane, battered and bruised after a nasty spill right after that pole-winning lap, but it was Gagne who got the run up the hill to take the lead as the pack settled down. Josh Herrin gritted his teeth and rode to a pair of podiums after a nasty get-off on Saturday morning.
