Espargaro Gains Podium Despite Wing Break A leix Espargaro claimed a first podium of 2023 despite rid- ing almost the entire race without a front right wing. The dam- age occurred when he tagged Luca Marini at the first turn, and struggled to stay with the podium battle ahead. "I was outside of the corner, so I really couldn't avoid it," he said. "Luca picked up the bike. I don't know why. We had a small contact. I didn't know that I broke the wing, but the first part of the race for me was very difficult because every time in corner six and corner twelve when I threw the bike in, I had a lot of shaking, a lot of moving. Was really, really difficult for me to maintain the speed there. I was very strong actually during the weekend. I lost a lot of ground but I didn't know the reason. For me it was a bit frustrating and very dif - ficult really to be competitive and maintain the pace. Finally, I was able to stay on the bike and close in on the podium." Neil Morrison WIND IN THE P60 No wing, no problem for Aleix Espargaro. Harden, McGee and Sieck Honored T he Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF) Class of 2023 was recently an- nounced, and from nine nomi- nees, the three motorcyclist inductees include Scot Harden, Mary McGee and Lee Sieck. Scot Harden, an accom- plished desert racer with 38 class championships, is also a respected OEM executive, event promoter and book publisher among his long list of career achievements. Harden can now add the prestigious ORMHOF award to his collection. A woman racer before there was women's racing, Mary McGee is a legend in her own right. She broke down bar - riers for female racers by competing alongside the men in her storied career, which includes competing the Baja 500 solo in 1975. Lee "Fud" Sieck is a Hall of Fame Legacy inductee. Fud was the dynamic and driving force behind the San Diego- based AMA District 38 and for 24 years was a devoted promotor of car and motor - cycle events. Sieck passed away in 2003. The ORMHOF Class of 2023 will be celebrated at the induction and Awards Gala presented by 4 Wheel Parts on Saturday, September 9 at the South Point Hotel Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada. CN Scot Harden, Mary McGee and Lee Sieck are named as inductees to the Off-Road Motorsports Hall Of Fame class of 2023.
