and passed Deegan late in the
race to secure the moto-one
win. Moto two, Hampshire
crashed in the second turn and
found himself dead last. He
climbed as far up as seventh
and still landed second on the
overall podium. He's third in
points.
"That one [crash] was on me,"
Hampshire said. "I came in too
fast to that corner and shouldn't
have done that. I was stoked to
get out of the gate good in both
motos, that's something I've
been struggling with the past
few weekends. I feel like I let
one slip away again today with a
bad split-second decision."

"I think it [the penalty] sucks,"
Lawrence said. "Apart from that,
it was great. We got the overall,
so that was cool. The track was
wild. There were so many soft
spots that you didn't see and
sinkholes. It was wild."
RJ Hampshire (Rockstar
Energy Husqvarna) battled his
way to second overall and also
claimed his second moto win
of the season. He grabbed the
holeshot and led most of the
first moto before falling. From
there, he remounted a charge
250MX
The 250MX class is still any-
one's game. While Hunter
Lawrence has aced the class
so far,
he's still yet to win an
opening moto. It was more of
the same for the Honda rider,
as he spent both motos com-
ing through the field. In moto
one, he
got bogged down by
Jo Shimoda who went down in
turn two but fought all the way
to third with just two laps left
in the race. A win in the second
moto gave Lawrence the overall
win for the day. However, he
received a post-race penalty of
seven-points for jumping on the
red cross flag. He still maintains
a healthy points lead by 28 over
