Herlings Injury Update R ed Bull KTM's Jeffrey Her- lings says he'll sit out the next two rounds of the MXGP se- ries due to an injury he suffered at the Grand Prix of Germany in Teutschenthal, June 11. Herlings fell in the first moto, got up and finished the race but didn't start moto two. A MRI revealed that the GP star suffered "a potential - ly cracked C5" vertebra. Surgery is not needed but rest is. The Dutch rider recently took his 102nd win at the Spanish GP, setting the record for the most MXGP wins. "It's hard to find many words," Herlings said. "It sums up my career in a way: we get the wins record, but then suffer another injury and another setback. "I still don't know what re - ally happened with the crash because I'd been using that line nicely in the moto until that point. Afterwards my neck didn't feel right. I tried to finish and take what points I could, but I know my body very well by now and could feel something was wrong. So, we'll miss another two GPs at least but I'm glad I won't need surgery, and I hope to be back with my team and rac - ing again as soon as I can." cn VOLUME ISSUE JUNE , P33 of the rut I was in. I tucked the front and went over the bars. I was on an uphill and in between ruts; it was really difficult to find neutral and took me a while to get going again, but we finished that off in seventh. "I was ready to go all-out in the second moto; we ripped a holeshot and I went as long as possible. I led almost all the way to the end, but I was stuck in some bad lines. But once an - other rider passed me, I caught some of his lines and I held on for second. So, I went seventh and second for second over - all, which felt amazing. Man, I couldn't have done it without the team, the work that we've put in, and my mechanic Travis who's doing an amazing job. It was a great, great, great weekend putting it on the podium, and winning qualifying, and leading laps. It could not have gone any better." CN Jeffrey Herlings will sit out at least the next two GPs to recuperate from injury.
