(Lowery Racing/Gray Hogs Yama- ha) edging Bronson Bauman (Fas- track Racing KTM) for the spot, albeit some 30 seconds after the leaders took the checkered flag. AFT SINGLES Mile racing with 450cc singles almost never fails to produce close, unpredictable racing. That ultimately proved true at the Red Kolby Carlile looked even stron - ger in the early going at the Red Mile. The resurgent Carlile ran in third for several laps before a mistake dropped him to eighth. There he would stay until throw - ing in a late overtake on Mission Roof System's Brandon Robinson to steal away seventh. Ninth and 10th was decided in narrow fashion with Jeffery Lowery ROUND 8 / MAY 27, 2023 THE RED MILE / LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY FLAT TRACK I PROGRESSIVE AMERICAN FLAT TRACK P96 place at the Red Mile might have been back-to-back wins with a little more luck and better last-lap place- ment. The Australian said, "It's been a good day all day. We won our heat race, and everything was going good. There was a little bit of bad luck on the last lap with a lapper, which wasn't the best, but I also made a couple mistakes the lap before that didn't help. Still, I'm so happy to get on the podium." 18 MAX WHALE 5TH SINGLES Red Bull KTM's Max Whale over- came a size and power disadvan- tage to come home fifth. While he made minor inroads on teammate Kody Kopp's points advantage in the process, perennial title contender Whale is anxious to return to the podium after a four-race stretch of just missing out on the box (5-4-7-5). He said, "The day started off not the greatest, but the team and I worked hard. We ended up qualifying P3, so not bad. We got second in our semi and made the [Al Lamb's Dallas Honda Challenge], so that's always good to get a bit of extra track time. We worked hard—I have to give my whole team credit. We made a big jump from [the Sacramento Mile] to here. I rode good I think even though the results don't really show it. I'm definitely not happy with fifth, but not too mad either." MYOWNRACE Daniels had his share of the lead. Briar Bauman (3) is slowly getting a handle on his new KTM and finished out the night on the podium.
