VOLUME ISSUE MAY , P121 STANDOUT FEATURES Simple yet secure attachment system RIDER ANALYSIS We've reviewed countless tank bags, and if there's one thing that they all have in common, it's that the manu- facturers are always trying to come up with a better way to mount them to your bike. Let's face it, most of us are really picky about our bikes. We don't want straps that could possibly scratch the tank. We're somewhat skeptical of magnets because they can destroy your credit cards and hotel room key if they come in close contact, and mechanical devices with latches and springs work fine at first, but they tend to wear over time and become harder and harder to operate. The last thing you want is for your tank bag to be stuck to your bike's fuel tank so you're unable to refuel. I've actually had that happen and it's not a good feeling. Because of that experience, I'm usually reluctant to review any new whiz- bang tank- bag mounting system, but when I heard that Ogio had part- nered with RAM Mounts to come up with the design, I was interested. I've used RAM mounts for years and in many applications. The Ogio tank bag itself is typi- cal of the brand's long history of • HIGH-QUALITY MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION • SUPER SIMPLE ATTACHMENT SYSTEM • CONVENIENT FEATURES • HIGH-QUALITY MATERIALS • NO COMPLAINTS quality. In both materials and construction, the bag is solid, with strong zippers and snaps on the end to keep the zipper pulls from flopping around in the wind as you ride. It's a nice little touch that I hadn't seen before but I re- ally like. The entire bag is molded and keeps its shape well even when you push on the cell phone- shaped clear top, which holds my iPhone perfectly. Even though the bag is rigid, it still feels soft to the touch, and all the pockets and zippers are easy to use even with gloves on. There's a sepa- rate soft bag that comes with the purchase, and it can be stuck to the inside of the tank bag anywhere you want it thanks to the attached Vel- cro and the type of material used in the interior of the tank bag itself. Ogio includes a nice rain cover, and the graphics on both the rain cover and the bag are reflective. But what about the mounting system? Well, as with most RAM Mount products, it is the simplest thing you can imagine. You mount your model-specific tank ring (sold separately for $17.99) to your tank, and the shape of the ring com- bined with a flexible unpretentious EZY-Mount system holds it firmly in place. It's genius. I would never worry about this bag getting stuck to my tank. It's so simple yet highly effective. MSRP: $139.99 WEBSITE: https://ogiopowersports.com/pages/on-bike TANK BAG I love the new Ogio tank bag. It offers everything you need in a tank bag and at a very reasonable price for the quality of product that you're getting. And the mounting system is a winner for sure. Keith Dowdle Tank bags, like the Ogio S2 Fixed 4L bag, are great for smaller and often-needed items.
