Ultimately, Mees took a
0.573-second margin of victory
and reclaimed a bushel of confi-
dence heading into the two miles
that await next on the schedule.
Daniels did still show himself
to be a threat, however, and on a
day in which everything worked
perfectly for Mees. Now with
three wins and four seconds,
the teenaged title hopeful only
surrendered four points and still
boasts a 20-point advantage
even keep pace.
The answer was, yes, sort
of, but not so much so that he
could do anything more than
keep the champ honest.
Following some early jockey
-
ing for position, Mees made
his move and stretched out a
few bike lengths of separation.
Daniels would lose a 10th here,
gain a 10th back there, but never
could close back to within strik
-
ing distance.

rider was finally back to mixing it up
with the best of the best while remind-

skills to add to her record win tally in
the near future. She said, "The day
started off a little rough. We blew up
our mile motor right out of the gate—

was working my way up through and
got pushed off the groove with a few
laps to go and wasn't really able to
rebound. I gained one more spot back
at the finish line. I felt like I had good
speed all day and was feeling like I
was getting back to my normal self. It's
been a while since I've been able to
ride a mile since coming off the twin.
I'm excited to head into these next few
rounds and see what we can do."

Cose has been a pretty consistent
force near the front of the pack this
season even if the results don't show
it. His most recent effort reflected that
reality in a better way, even if fourth
still feels a long way off of first even
when separated by just a tenth of a
second on track. Cose said, "The way
the track shaped up, it was a little bit
slower in the corners, and straight-
away speed was pretty crucial. The
two Hondas and the two Yamaha
have just a tick more horsepower
down the straightaway. But I'm happy
with where we are at—it's the first
