Yes, the same Jared Mees who circulated Cal Expo with the number-one plate on his bike and 23 prior mile wins to his name, four of which were earned at the Sacramento Mile. And yet, the factory Indian hero really did seem to be faced with an uphill climb against his emerging rival, Dallas Daniels aboard the Es - tenson Racing Yamaha MT-07 DT. Last year, in a season in which rule changes shifted the balance of power, the Yamaha owned a visible advantage on the long straights of the miles over the newly restricted Indian FTR750s. While the Indians still boasted an inertial advantage through the corners, which allowed them to carry greater momentum, Daniels exploited his Yamaha's top-end supremacy to snap Mees' Sac Mile win streak as a rookie. And that was just one of his two triumphs over Mees on the season's three miles (and the one that went the other way only did so after Daniels' lost power on the final lap while very much in contention). Jared Mees took his fifth Sacramento Mile win at the 2023 event. He edged out championship rival Dallas Daniels. BACK
