Team rider, Tomac, was out in
front and looking strong after
the first lap, while Sexton was
running sixth. All was good in
Tomac-Land—until the third lap
when he shockingly started to
slow for seemingly no reason.
Then it became clear that he
was suffering an injury to his

Max Vohland grabbed the holeshot
in the 250SX West main and ran up
front before finishing sixth. "I got off
to a great start and went into the ear-
ly lead, but I made some mistakes
on lap three and then went down.

I could to get back to sixth position,
where I rounded out the race."

Enzo Lopes qualified fastest in Q1,
won his heat race, and finished just
off the podium in fourth. "What a day
for myself and the team in Denver,"
he said. "P1 in qualifying, then to go
and win my first-ever heat race was
unreal. I got sick on Wednesday and
with the altitude it compromised a
lot of my breathing in the main. I still
had a day that I will never forget."
