Winners Galore at Oulton BSB
T
here were three different
winners in the Bennetts Brit-
ish Superbike Championship at
Oulton Park, April 29-30.
Josh Brookes (FHO Racing
BMW Motorrad Team) got things
started Saturday in the Sprint
Race, which was red flagged two
laps from the end because or rain.
Brookes was awarded the win
ahead of Leon Haslam (ROKiT
BMW Motorrad), Glenn Irwin
(BeerMonster Ducati), Peter Hick
-
man (FHO Racing BMW Motorrad)
and Tommy Bridewell (BeerMon-
ster Ducati). This was the second
win of the year for Brookes.
In Sunday's race two, Bride-
well became the fourth different
winner of the young season. The
Ducati rider finished just ahead
of Irwin, Haslam, Andrew Irwin
(Honda Racing UK) and Kyle Ryde
(LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha). Sat
-
urday's winner, Brookes, was sixth.
In Sunday's race three, Irwin
denied Haslam of his first win of
the season by nipping the BMW
rider by just 0.062 seconds at the
checkers after an exciting three-
rider battle for the win. Ryde was
right there at the finish, as well,
finishing right behind Haslam in
third place.
Bridewell and Brookes rounded
out the top five.
In the race for the 2023 Cham
-
pionship, Irwin holds on to a slim
four-point lead over Brookes and
Bridewell who are tied for sec-
ond. Haslam trails Brookes and
Bridewell by 11 points in fourth,
and Ryde is holding down fifth
another three points back.
