ROUND 1 / APRIL 21-23, 2023 ROAD ATLANTA / BRASELTON, GEORGIA ROAD RACE I MOTOAMERICA / FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP P76 SUPERBIKE After Friday's action, you could be forgiven for thinking it was going to be a Jake Gagne (Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha) benefit at Road Atlanta. The current number one was a massive 0.928 seconds clear of Beaubier on his return to MotoAmerica competition after two years in the Moto2 World Champion - ship, and would start on pole despite Mathew Scholtz (Westby Racing Yamaha) clocking the fastest time in Q2 (he was still nearly 1.5 seconds off Gagne's best from Friday). Race one distilled into a battle between the old rivals, Gagne and Beaubier, with the former taking the lead early and holding it until lap eight when Beaubier used the monstrous top-end of the BMW to rocket past the Attack Performance Yamaha at the end of the back straight. 12 XAVI FORES 1/1 SUPERSPORT "It was a great weekend," said Su- persport winner Xavi Forés. "Today was slightly difficult at the beginning of the race because I didn't gain any positions off the start, but lap by lap, things got better. When I got the lead, I put my rhythm on and knew I was very strong under brakes at the end of the back straight, so I used that to my advantage. I just tried to do consistent laps so I could relax a bit at the end of the race. We have the championship lead and now it is back home to Spain to see my new baby!" 33 KYLE WYMAN 1/1 KING OF THE BAGGERS "That's how you want to do it, aside from the challenge was a little bit of a throwaway, but we won every session and won both races. That's kind of how you want to do it," King of the Baggers winner Kyle Wyman said. "We just kind of managed the pace. Went a little bit quicker today than yesterday, as did everybody I think. I had hope of a '29 and didn't quite get it this weekend, but it's no big deal if we got the W." MYOWNRACE Toni Elias made a welcome return to the MotoAmerica pit lane and came home with a pair of top-10 finishes. Gagne picked up the pieces in race two to score a close win and lead the points.
