do-it-all racer Surratt clawed his
way up from a top-five start.
The JCR Honda rider (Sur-
ratt) took control of the lead by
lap four and held the top spot
through the end of the 20-min-
ute-plus-one-lap race.
Brown put in a strong charge
late in the race as he made his
way into second. The YZ300-
mounted rider, Brown, got close
to Surratt but ultimately finished
1.49 seconds back. Deegan Von-
lossberg led laps early in race
one and held off Stewart for the
third spot.
Brown put himself up front off
the start in moto two and was
tailed closely by the defending
champ, Stewart. Brown went on
to lead every lap of the second
moto, and his 2-1 scores earned
him the day's overall.
Surratt's start in moto two
didn't do him any favors, as
he again had to charge from
behind. He passed into second
by the halfway point and stayed
close to Brown's rear wheel but
never managed to make a pass
stick. Surratt came home sec
-
ond overall.
Stewart finished third in the
second moto after being stuck
in second and third gears. His
4-3 scores gave him third over
-
all.
Other notable classes includ-
ed the 125 Pros, where KTM's
Ayrton Ward (797), Jeff Ward's
son, battles with Sean Collier
in the Open 2-Stroke class.
