ROUND 4 / APRIL 1, 2023 WILD HORSE PASS MOTORSPORTS PARK / CHANDLER, ARIZONA FLAT TRACK I P88 class champ Dalton Gauthier continues to step up his chal- lenge. Kopp issued a clear warn- ing that he intended to deliver another championship blow- out with a pair of dominating outings in the Dayt ona double opener. But Gauthier has since clawed himself back to within one-point of the lead. Some questioned the wisdom of Gauthier's decision to exit Systems' title hopeful Brandon Robinson suffered a heavy fall in practice. While he was able to fight his way back to an even - tual fourth at Senoia Raceway, Robinson was forced to sit out the reminder of the day at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. SINGLES Kody Kopp's Parts Unlimited Singles title defense might be even more compelling as '19 suddenly let off the accelerator when the schedule shifts more to Mees' liking. There's also one more Short Track and three more TTs still ahead. It's early and Mees still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve, but the '23 championship outlook con - tinues to amp up its intrigue as the pieces continue to fall into place. Unfortunately, for the second time in two weeks, Mission Roof 21 TREVOR BRUNNER 4TH SINGLES Estenson Racing Yamaha's Trevor Brunner felt he had a good shot at winning, right up until he made a fateful selection of starting position for his heat race—a deci- sion that haunted him for the re- mainder of the day. Brunner said, "My day started off really well. The bike was working, and we gelled with it. We fast qualified but made the wrong choice picking our posi- tion on the inside on the start line. We thought we could get in there in the first turn and jam everybody up, but it was a little drier down on the bottom. That kind of set me back. I got shuffled back in the heat, and it was hard work after that. Once you get put back on a one-line track, it's hard to make passes. One bad decision kind of upset the whole day. I ended up finishing fourth, which is a bum- mer because we had the speed to win the main event." MYOWNRACE KTM-mounted Dalton Gauthier captured his first Singles win of the season.
