Wild Ride at Lake Havasu City WORCS
T
he Rocky Mountain ATV/MC
WORCS series took to the
lakesides of Lake Havasu City,
Arizona, March 10-12 for round
three of the championship. The
course features the shortest
lap time on the schedule but
is still regarded as one of the
most challenging. Justin Hoeft
emerged victorious in the 450
Pro class, Kade Tinkler-Walker in
the 250 Pros, and Kaitlyn Jacobs
in the Pro Women's division.
Purvines Racing Yamaha
teammates Hoeft and Trevor
Stewart found themselves out
front early on, but a small crash
for Stewart led to a mechanical
issue, which ultimately ended his
day early. With lap times in the
sub six-minute range, the leaders
not only dealt with competition
in their own class as well as a
constant flow of lapped riders.
Hoeft's strategy of riding
conservatively in the first hour
before dropping the hammer in
the second half worked out, as
he finished over a minute ahead
of second place. Hoeft jumps
from third to first and now leads
the overall championship. Tallon
Lafountaine was fresh off a win
at round two in Delano and kept
Hoeft honest for most of the
race to finish an eventual third.
KTM's Mateo Oliveira fought
back to second (passing Lafoun
-
taine) after a crash early in the
WIND
IN THE
P68
Justin Hoeft held on for
the Pro 450 win.
