Hart Stands Out in Hawaii T he second round of the AMA West Hard Enduro Series, presented by Beta, took place in Hawaii over the March 11- 12 weekend, and must now be regarded as one of the toughest races in the USA with only three finishers. IRC Endurofest-Hawaii, pre - sented by Pasha, was hosted by the Hawaii Motorsports As- sociation (HMA) at the Kahuku Motocross Track on the North Shore of Oahu. The race debuted last year, but this this was the first time it was part of the AMA circuit and gave the Hawaiian racers a chance at Tennessee Knockout qualification in their own backyard. Race Director Kapili Olson and his trail-cutting crew worked for months blaz - ing new trail and clearing the old course in the fast-growing rainforests, which consisted of extremely slick creek beds, steep up and down hills, slippery off- cambers, mudholes, and plenty of rocks and tree roots. The USHE organized a con - tainer from the mainland and shipped 25 motorcycles to Honolulu for the race. A mix of pro and amateur USHE athletes had the opportunity to race their own bikes, which created a level playing field for the competition and reduced the amount of bike- setup issues. Approximately 20 racers from Kauai also shipped their bikes over in a container, which added to the deep field of talented athletes. The Endurofest consisted of three races in two days.
