Yamaha swept the Daytona 200 in 1983, 50 years ago. In front of 61,000
fans, Finland's Jarno Saarinen, riding a water-cooled Yamaha 350 and
who was pictured on the cover, took the win over fellow Yamaha riders
Kel Carruthers and Jim Evans. Dick Mann and Don Emde rounded out
the top five... Mike Kidd won both short track races at Daytona... We
tested the Yamaha SC500 scrambler, which was really a motocrosser on
steroids... We covered the Invaders M.C. desert race in Red Mountain,
California, where Mitch Mayes came away with the overall win.
