VOLUME ISSUE MARCH , P137 STANDOUT FEATURE Lightweight and waterproof RIDER ANALYSIS I've started using soft luggage full-time on all my personal bikes because I inevitably end up off- road, and soft bags are simply much safer than hard panniers when you fall off and the bike lands on your leg. My initial impression of the Enduristan bag was noting the high quality of the stitching and the sturdiness of the bag itself. The metal attachment hooks, however, were too small to fit around the tubes on my rear rack. Based on the kind of riding that I do, I don't like to use hooks. I'm sure they work great for most applications, but I would rather have an actual strap looped around the rack so that when I'm riding rough trails, I know the bag isn't going anywhere. The hooks are built in and unremovable as is, so I took a razor and gently cut the threads at the end of the straps so that I could open them up and slip them off. At some point I may go ahead and cut the remaining mate- rial off, but for now, I kept them long, rolled them up, and used some Velcro ties that I had on hand to secure the excess. The bag is now • STURDY, HIGH-QUALITY CONSTRUCTION • WATERPROOF • WELL-EXECUTED DESIGN • STURDY, HIGH-QUALITY • ATTACHMENT SYSTEM MIGHT NEED MODIFYING secure and does not bounce around at all. It would be nice if Enduristan included Velcro ties at the end of the straps like some of the other brands do, but I'm sure it would add to the cost, and I feel like you're already getting a lot for your money with this product. I love the bright red interior and the fact that the bag is waterproof. The zippers pull easily, thanks to the nice paracord loops that have reflectiv- ity built in. The large E logo on the back is also reflective and really stands out. My camera equip- ment fits perfectly, and there's still room for an extra pair of gloves, sunglasses, and other small items. I've found that my flip-flops fit nicely under the elastic strap on top, which is perfect for when I pull into camp and want to quickly get into comfortable footwear. All in all, my first experience with En- duristan products is a positive one and now that I've been using the product, I'm really enjoying how well it works for quickly getting to my camera gear, doing my photos, and getting back on the road. And it's waterproof, so when the rain starts falling, I just keep on riding without worrying about my gear. Enduristan makes all kinds of soft, waterproof bags and luggage, but LIST PRICE: $209.99 WEBSITE: https://enduristan-usa.com/ TAIL PACK their large tail pack has proven to be the perfect complement to my existing setup, and I foresee it get- ting plenty of use for over the next several years. Keith Dowdle Securing the Enduristan tail bag to your bike might require some home engineering, but it will fit.
