T he 81st running of the Daytona 200 will go down as a controversial one in which Josh Herrin (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC) picked his second-career race victory, the 13-year gap to his debut 200 win in 2010 marking the longest period between wins in the race's history. Herrin was the dominant rid - er of the weekend, taking pole position and invariably head- ing the pack through practice when his machine was running as it should. He spent much of practice in the pits trying to sort various mechanical gremlins on the Ducati Panigale V2, only putting in two timed laps for the Time Attack that sorts the grid, one of which was good enough to se - cure pole, 0.264 of a second up on PJ Jacobsen Celtic/Tytlers Cycle/TSE Racing Yamaha) and Vision Wheel M4 Ecstar Suzuki's Tyler Scott.
