Yamaha dominated the Daytona 200 40
years ago. Kenny Roberts (center) came
through the pack to win by 52 seconds over
teammate Eddie Lawson (right). Steve Wise
rounded out the podium for Honda, which
saw Freddie Spencer, Mike Baldwin and
Ron Haslam all DNF with mechanicals.
Roberts set a Daytona 200 average speed
record that day of 110.926 mph.
