Halbert To Martin Trucking Yamaha Racing S ammy Halbert will race a Martin Trucking Yamaha MT-07 for the Daytona Short Track I & II season opener and other select rounds of the 2023 Progressive American Flat Track Champion- ship, including the Sturgis and Castle Rock TTs. The union pairs Martin Trucking owner CD Mar- tin, a flat track enthusiast and former racer, with veteran racer Halbert. Sam McDonald is building the race bikes out of his shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. McDonald was a dirt- track racer before embarking on a career in road racing. Halbert's younger brother, Andy, will also be at the track to help the team. Together, they'll look to rekindle the magic they had working together in 2011 when they dominated the Daytona Short Track doubleheader, winning both main events and Dash-for-Cash races. "I was so excited to see the Daytona Short Track back on the schedule this year," said Halbert. "I always feel right at home on this track. I knew that I wanted to be on a Yamaha in this chassis this year. After riding the Harley and Indian the last four years, getting on this bike feels like a mini - bikeā€”it's so much smaller and I can actually touch the ground. I like the rules package for this bike and being able to run a heavy wheel again." CN Baumans To Race RWR KTMs in AFT R ick Ware Racing says it will support Briar Bauman and Shayna Texter-Bauman in the upcoming American Flat Track Championship. The two will compete aboard KTMs in the SuperTwins and Singles classes, respectively. Bauman will ride a KTM 890 Duke R in the Mission SuperTwins class, and Shayna will campaign a KTM 450 SX-F in the Parts Unlim - ited AFT Singles class. "This is another step for RWR in grow- ing our marketing value and expanding with new sponsors." said Team Owner Rick Ware. "We're looking forward to joining the AFT series and chasing wins with championship- caliber riders. Shayna and Briar are welcome additions to the existing RWR driver/rider ros - ter and we can't wait to see what they can do. "We won an FIM World Supercross Champion- ship last year in our first foray back into two-wheel racing in over a decade. My expectation is for this program to be just as successful." CN WIND IN THE P28 Former AFT Champion Briar Bauman will compete with RWR KTM aboard an 890 Duke R in the AFT SuperTwins Championship. Sammy Halbert is looking forward to returning to the Daytona Short Track aboard a Yamaha.
