Our cover story 50 years ago was the Ascot TT, where Terry Dorsch took the win over Gene Romero and Eddie Mulder... We had motocross coverage from Hialeah, Florida, where Pierre Karsmakers came away with the overall victory ahead of Marty Tripes and Bob Grossi... We also had coverage of the SCTA observed trials event in Reche Canyon in Riverside, California. Marland Whaley was the overall winner, while Bernie Schreiber was victorious in his class. There was talk about moving him up to the Masters class... We tested the Yamaha DT3 MX motocrosser. YEARS AGO MARCH , P116 LOOKING BACK I We took an inside look at the unique world of ice racing in issue number- eight 40 years ago... The opening round of the AMA National Enduro Series got underway in New Idria, California, with the Quicksilver Enduro, where Husqvarna's Mike Melton took the overall win. Maico rider John Fero took second place... We tested Can-Am's 493cc Sonic MX four- stroke. It weighed 268 pounds and sold for $3120... Yamaha-mounted Chuck Stearns was the overall winner at the Brush Busters D-37 Hare Scrambles. Honda rider Chuck Miller was runner-up. YEARS AGO MARCH , (Left) Larry Roeseler won the Quicksilver National Enduro in 1993. (Below) Sean Hamblin hitched a ride with the Navy's Blue Angels 20 years ago.
