up the patience going into the
main event. He started third but
slowly moved to second before
inheriting the lead from Hamp-
shire's fall. Lawrence's patience
paid off as he
found himself up
front, checking out by 16 sec-
onds at the finish.
"Those
first few laps I was
just seeing where the lines
were," Lawrence said. "Once I
got Cam, I just wanted to see
the pace of RJ. But then he
ended up going down which
made my life a lot easier. From
there it was just keeping that
same lap time."
Hampshire rebounded nicely
after a disastrous Anaheim 2,
leaving him with a separated
shoulder and internal bleeding.
He said the injuries have kept
him off the bike for the past two
weeks, and he even debated
not racing this weekend. The
Husqvarna rider started the night
in Oakland with a heat race win
and a holeshot in the main. He

tip-over dropped him down in the
ranks and gave the lead to Law

the finish,
finishing second and
still managing to keep McAdoo
behind him. He's now second in
points, just one up on McAdoo.
"I made the call [to race] on
Monday and said, 'Look, we're
going racing,'" Hampshire said.
"I did one [practice main event]
on Tuesday and by the end of it
I was weak, I was hoping I didn't
get the holeshot just because I
knew it would be a tough main
event for me."
McAdoo finished third while
also nursing an injury he sus

tained at Anaheim. The lone Pro
Circuit
Kawasaki rider spent
the few off weekends rehab-
bing his arm and shoulder but
gutted
out another solid podium
performance on Saturday night.
He found himself battling with
Hampshire and later Pierce
Brown. McAdoo put a pass on
Brown that saw Brown hit the
deck and allowed the Kawasaki
rider to hold onto the final spot
on the box. He's locked into a
