up the patience going into the main event. He started third but slowly moved to second before inheriting the lead from Hamp- shire's fall. Lawrence's patience paid off as he found himself up front, checking out by 16 sec- onds at the finish. "Those first few laps I was just seeing where the lines were," Lawrence said. "Once I got Cam, I just wanted to see the pace of RJ. But then he ended up going down which made my life a lot easier. From there it was just keeping that same lap time." Hampshire rebounded nicely after a disastrous Anaheim 2, leaving him with a separated shoulder and internal bleeding. He said the injuries have kept him off the bike for the past two weeks, and he even debated not racing this weekend. The Husqvarna rider started the night in Oakland with a heat race win and a holeshot in the main. He led four laps until a slow-speed tip-over dropped him down in the ranks and gave the lead to Law - rence. Hampshire fought hard to the finish, finishing second and still managing to keep McAdoo behind him. He's now second in points, just one up on McAdoo. "I made the call [to race] on Monday and said, 'Look, we're going racing,'" Hampshire said. "I did one [practice main event] on Tuesday and by the end of it I was weak, I was hoping I didn't get the holeshot just because I knew it would be a tough main event for me." McAdoo finished third while also nursing an injury he sus - tained at Anaheim. The lone Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider spent the few off weekends rehab- bing his arm and shoulder but gutted out another solid podium performance on Saturday night. He found himself battling with Hampshire and later Pierce Brown. McAdoo put a pass on Brown that saw Brown hit the deck and allowed the Kawasaki rider to hold onto the final spot on the box.
