ROUND 3 / JANUARY 27, 2023
ANGEL STADIUM OF ANAHEIM / ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA
P52
SUPERCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES / SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
day started strong as usual with
Jett posting a time that rivaled
even the top 450cc riders. Mis-
takes cost him in the night show,
though. A fall while in second
during main one cut his work out
for him, and then another big one
in race two put him dead last.
Two hard charges allowed him
to salvage a second and a sixth
before winning the final race of
the night. Second overall doesn't
seem too bad when you consider
the on-track drama that took
place. Lawrence still leads the
championship by 16 points.
"I was following Stilez and
then someone decided to go in
straight, and I just got messed
up," Lawrence said of his race-two
graphics. The look, which de-
buted during press day for the
opener, is a nod to the CRF110F
and CRF50F trail bikes that are
available in the same colors.
(Interestingly, Sexton's previous
450SX win also came with white
bodywork at last year's San Di-
ego Military Appreciation race.)
A-STARS OF A2
Alpinestars is known for thinking
outside the box and the special
gear it designed for its factory
racers for Anaheim 2 was es-
pecially noteworthy. Eli Tomac,
Chase Sexton and Jason Ander-
son all wore gear inspired from
the racing suits worn by the late
Ken Block. Jett Lawrence also
debuted an Alpinestars collab
with fashion brand Anti Social
Social Club. He wore different
outfits in all three races.
FAMOUS OPEN
FOUR-WHEELER
Several celebrities attended A2
but most notably for the race
enthusiast in the crowd was last
year's Indianapolis 500 winner
Marcus Ericsson. Ericsson is a
former F1 driver who currently
drives for Chip Ganassi Racing in
the IndyCar Series.
Briefly...
Levi Kitchen (43) captured the 250SX
West overall win, while his Star Racing
Yamaha teammate Stilez Robertson
(40) finished the night third overall.
