he Anaheim 2 Supercross
marked the first of three
Triple Crown races of
the 2023 Monster Energy AMA
Supercross season, where both
the 450SX and 250SX West
classes saw new winners emerge
atop the box. Chase Sexton and
Levi Kitchen capitalized on good
starts and fast riding while mini-
mizing their mistakes on the ever-
changing track to claim the wins.
For Kitchen, it was his first career
win and the second for Sexton,
whose last win also came three
rounds in last year at San Diego.
The 450SX class actually saw
two new faces on the podium—
Jason Anderson and Ken Roc
-
zen—earned their first podiums
of 2023.
Sexton came out swinging
right away. He went into the
night show looking solid after
setting the fastest qualifying
time of the day then going on to
lead the entire first main wire to
wire. His luck didn't continue in
main two as a washout early in
the race put the 23 on the ground
and back to fifth. Now with six
points to his tally, it was winner-
take-all in the final race. Another
good start in main three put Sex
-
ton back up front as he stalked
Jason Anderson for the lead.
The Honda rider eventually made
a pass stick and ran away with
the final win of the night. Sexton
stayed up as the most consistent
rider of the night and used 1-5-1
scores to earn the overall for the
night, only the second 450SX
main event win of his career.
He's now second in points, just
four down from Tomac.
