Peters
Perfect At
Guthrie 2
Arenacross
R
ound six of the AMA Aren-
across Championship took
place at the Lazy E Arena in
Guthrie, Oklahoma, January 27,
for the second weekend in a row.
This time around, Kyle Peters put
down a perfect night to win both
main events.
Peters started the night by
winning his heat and qualified
first into the main events.
Main number one went his
way as he made passes early
and cruised away with the lead.
Kyle Bitterman held down sec-
ond the whole way, while two-
stroke mounted Jered Lesher
(Yamaha) worked his way up
from fifth to get third. Matthew
Curler (Husqvarna) was fourth,
while Tristin Moffitt (Yamaha)
rounded out the top five.
Peters said after the race he
wanted to "conserve my energy,"
since the second race flips the
running order from the first. An
opening win would put him on
row two in race two, and while
Bitterman got through turn
one with ease and made his way
into the lead, Peters and Lesher
were forced to work their way
through the field.
Peters used the rest of his en-
ergy to track down Bitterman, as
the number-two Honda "ran out
of steam" at the front. Peters,
who completed the first lap in
fifth, took the win after passing
Bitterman three laps from the
end, going on to claim a domi-
nant night in Guthrie.
Lesher also got around Bit-
terman, on the final lap to take
second. Bitterman held on to
third ahead of Lane Allison (Ka-
wasaki) and Curler.
Peters enjoys a comfortable
lead in the championship. He's
currently 41 points ahead of
Bitterman while Izaih Clark, who
did not compete, is another 23
points back in third. Simone is
fourth and Curler fifth.
