crash and a DNF in San Diego, rebounded entirely in a week's time. He finished just off the box with a fourth in race one but followed that up with two con- sistent second-place finishes. These were crucial as the rest of the 250cc field bounced all over the results sheet. Kitchen's 4-2-2 gave him the overall as the series heads east to Houston. "After the first main, it was a bit disheartening," Kitchen said. "Jett pretty much blew my doors off and Pierce [Brown] same thing, but I'm just not used to the intensity when the track's smooth like that… [For the last race,] all I knew is I needed to nail the start and I did, then I just cruised behind Jett." The VOLUME ISSUE JANUARY , P51 BLACK CLOUD A black cloud seems to be following the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Ka- wasaki team lately. Things started going badly for the team when Austin Forkner injured his knee at Anaheim 1, and then East racers Seth Hammaker (wrist) and Jo Shimoda (collarbone) both suffered injuries last week while training and will miss at least the early stages of the East series, which kicks off next weekend in Houston. And then, Cameron McAdoo crashed in prac- tice at Anaheim 2 and at first ap- peared to be out for the night with a leg injury and a nasty knot to his left arm, but, after a lot of therapy and massaging, he rallied to finish sixth (8-7-5) overall. "It ended up being a survival night, but we made it happen," McAdoo said. He was rewarded by moving up to second in the championship. The team's up-and-coming stars, Jett Reyn- olds (wrist) and Ryder DiFrancesco (thumb) are also on the mend. The team announced that veteran racer Chris Blose will stand in for the team starting with Houston, the first 250SX East round of the year. MALCOLM, MUSQUIN OUT Malcolm Stewart was not on the grid at A2. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Team rider crashed during the week and sat out the second Anaheim. No details of the nature of the injury or word on when he might return to action. Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin is still side- lined with a wrist injury. WHITE HONDAS?
