Bolt Wins Germany SuperEnduro
B
illy Bolt came away with the
overall win in Riesa, Germany,
January 7, for round two of the
FIM SuperEnduro World Champi-
onship. But it wasn't pretty.
Bolt, on the factory-back
Husqvarna, had to make up for
several mistakes and tip-overs
before he could snatch the first-
place trophy.
In the first of three races, Bolt
got caught out by the track's
sand section but still managed to
come away with the win ahead of
series rival Jonny Walker (Beta)
and American Cody Webb (Fac-
toryOne Sherco).
Bolt's crash in moto two cost
him a possible win. He crashed
into the track's bridge section
while dicing for the lead with
Walker, who went on to take the
win ahead of Taddy Blazusiak
(GasGas) and Walker.
In the deciding final moto,
Bolt again bit the dust on the
bridge section, spotting his
rivals 15 seconds. But that still
wasn't enough to secure the win
for Walker. Bolt had come up
through the pack and passed
Walker on the last lap to take the
race win and overall victory.
"I made life hard for myself
tonight, but I'm happy to have
come out on top in the end,"
Bolt said. "It was pretty hectic on
track all night and to be honest I
made too many stupid mistakes.
I hold my hands up for that. The
speed was there, but with only
one good line on the track mis-
takes were easily made. Maybe
tonight was about shaking off
that Christmas break, but I feel
like I have room to improve for
round three. Overall, I've finished
on top of the podium and ex-
tended my points leads, so I'm
happy with the outcome."
Walker took second overall
with 2-1-2 results, and Blazusiak
filled out the podium with 7-2-3
results.
