Worthy recruit, or jammy git? Smith
has a two-year full MotoGP contract,
and has done little in the big class
compared with other ex-Moto2 rider Marquez. Look at it another way
and in fact he's made a good job of
adapting, improving race by race
and fighting with increasingly higherlevel opponents.
At Laguna Seca he was about
to engage with the factory Ducatis
when he coasted to a stop with a
mechanical failure.
Unfairly or not, Smith was on the
firing line, because Crutchlow wanted
his ride next year. But with his current
teammate now signing with Ducati,
none of that matters anymore.
