Henry [Wiles]," said Baker. "I haven't
finished outside the top five all year
and ended up fifth tonight. I gained
some points in the championship so
that was really good. To run a solid
fifth and gain some points in front of
friends and family… it was a good
night."
Bryan Smith quietly rode his Crosley Radio/Howerton Motorsports'
Honda home with a solid sixth-place
finish. Scott Baker, Sammy, Kenny
Coolbeth and Mikey Martin rounded
out the top 10.

Briefly...
needed to make a change. I don't
have any plans yet, but I think I'm
close to having another deal."
The surprise recipient of good
news was Stevie Bonsey, whose
2013 season was stagnant at
best. "It was quite a week. I was
coming into Castle Rock last
week from a bad week at Sacramento. We struggled and struggled," said Bonsey. "I couldn't
get anything going with my 450 at
Lodi the night before Sacramento
and we went to Sacramento and
struggled. My hopes and the wind
were knocked out of my sail. I was
bummed out, to say the least.
We went through the week and
we started trying to get my 450
ready. Come Thursday Dave [Zanotti] called me and said, 'What
are you doing?' I said, 'I'm at the
gym working out.' He said, 'Get
up to San Jose right now. Jake
[Johnson] just quit and we need
a rider.' So I jammed up there. A
long story short, I'm on Zanotti's
bike. My whole season kind of
turned around for me in a minute.
For me, it's a dream come true. I
kind of had no hope this season.
I was bummed out the way things
were going and having to change
tires on my own. Me and my dad
were kind of struggling to afford
everything. I had a couple sponsors in my corner, but it's getting
expensive. I was getting bummed
out and Dave came and turned
everything around for me."
Now is a time for a new beginning, Bonsey said. "Right now,
starting tonight, it's a new beginning. It's time to start over. We
will cancel everything that started
the season and hammer down. A
podium is not bad, but here is improvement to be made. I know the
boys are happy. I'm pretty happy;
it wasn't perfect. Until it is perfect, it can be better. We are going to keep plugging away. After
this race, we kind of talked about
some things we can change to
make it a little bit better. We are
going to work on that. We will go
to Peoria and try to be back talking to you guys again."
Wyatt Maguire's sixth-place finish kept him atop the AMA Pro
J&P Cycles Pro Singles points
standings as his nearest competitor, Ryan Wells, finished 10th.
Wells is now 12 points back.
Kyle Johnson, third in points, is
27 back after failing to make the
main. Dominic Colindres' win
pushed him into fourth, six points
behind Johnson.
