VOL. 50 ISSUE 31 AUGUST 6, 2013 along with the bike and we tried a few different set ups but nothing seemed to work well. I'm just glad I kept it on two wheels and we'll move onto the next one." It was a Yamaha dominated event with Yamaha riders sweeping the top five in each race. Best among the non-Yamaha riders on the weekend was National Guard/Celtic Racing Suzuki's James Rispoli who took sixth in both races. CN Race One 1. Cameron Beaubier (Yamaha) 2. Garrett Gerloff (Yamaha) 3. JD Beach (Yamaha) 4. Jake Lewis (Yamaha) 5. Jake Gagne (Yamaha) 6. James Rispoli (Suzuki) 7. Dane Westby (Honda) 8. Bobby Fong (Triumph) 9. Jason DiSalvo (Triumph) 10. Fernando Amantini (Yamaha) Race Two 1. Cameron Beaubier (Yamaha) 2. Garrett Gerloff (Yamaha) 3. JD Beach (Yamaha) 4. Jake Lewis (Yamaha) 5. Jake Gagne (Yamaha) 6. James Rispoli (Suzuki) 7. Jason DiSalvo (Triumph) 8. Bobby Fong (Triumph) 9. Dane Westby (Honda) 10. Fernando Amantini (Yamaha) P95 Briefly... When asked if not having the radiator shroud on his bike made any difference in the performance of his machine during Sunday's race Yamaha's Cameron Beaubier claimed he didn't notice any difference. Cameron Beaubier tied a single-season Daytona SportBike win record held by Martin Cardenas with his ninth victory of the season Sunday at Miller. Cardenas set the mark in 2010 en route to winning that year's DSB championship. Beaubier will have the chance to break the record in New Jersey next month. When asked if there would be any extra pressure since he could establish a new single season record Beaubier replied, "It would definitely be really nice [to break the record], but I'm just going to take it race by race and go from there." Cameron Beaubier moved into second on the all-time Daytona SportBike wins list. He moved out of a tie with Josh Herrin in that category with his pair of victories at Miller. Beaubier now has 16-career DSB wins. He's second to the all-time class leader Martin Cardenas who owns a record 24 wins in the class. M4/Broaster Chicken Racing Honda rider Benny Solis had to start from the back of the grid in the Daytona SportBike class at Miller. Solis ran in the Yamaha Champions Riding School at Miller within the 30-day test-ban window for top-10 riders. The penalty assessed by AMA Pro Racing was starting from the back of the field. Solis' bike had a mechanical issue on Saturday and he finished 19th. On Sunday he worked his way up to 12th. Rookie sensation Joe Roberts showed no ill effects following a FP1 incident in which he ran over his low- er leg and tweaked his right foot and knee while making a remarkable save. Roberts got right down to business in Saturday's qualifying session, lowering his times dramatically to earn his second pole position of the season by over half-a-second aboard his California Superbike School Roadracingworld.com Honda CBR600RR with a quick time of 1:56.566. Happy Trails M/C Connection's Hayden Schultz and Fernet Insurance/MOB Racing's Eric Stump entered the weekend ranked 15th and 17th in the Vance & Hines HarleyDavidson Series, but qualified fourth and fifth and therefore had a realistic shot of fighting their way in with a strong Sunday performance. Unfortunately, Schultz crashed while running up front on the opening lap and Stump crashed on the race's final lap after working his way up to fourth; eliminating any hopes they had of claiming a spot in the XR Showdown. In a heartbreaker Eric Stump said he was trying to overcome issues with his bike when he crashed on the last lap of the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson XR1200 race. "Halfway through the race going into turn one the bike started to shut down," Stump explained. "It was like it was running out of gas. I think I needed to finish sixth to make the Showdown and I was battling this guy on the last lap. I thought I might need to pass him to make sure I got enough points. Even though my bike wasn't running perfect I was still faster than this guy. On the last lap, last corner I was going to make my move when the bike bogged down and I overloaded it and crashed. I tried to get going again, but it wouldn't start. It was a really disappointing deal, but even though I'm out of the Shootout I'll go to Indy and try to make up for it."
