Max Biaggi Ends Max Racing Team F our-time 250cc and two-time WorldSBK Champion Max Bi- aggi will wrap up his eponymous Moto3 team at the end of the season after splitting from team manager Peter Oettl. The team celebrated one of the biggest moments in its history last time out at Sepang, when John McPhee went from fifth to first to lead home Ayumu Sasaki for a Max racing Team 1-2. "A wonderful double, after a very difficult period, in which it was necessary to make painful decisions," Biaggi said. "Valencia will represent the last race in Moto3 of the Max Racing Team. "I want to thank Steril- garda Alimenti, which has always supported me, Husqvarna Motorcycles, KTM and all those who, in recent years, have contributed to achieving these results. "My passion is inexhaustible and will always represent the engine of new goals with which to measure, already in 2023." Biaggi has not revealed any plans to continue managing a team in 2023. The Max Racing Team will be rebranded as Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP Moto3 for next season. CN IN THE WIND P32 That's all she wrote for Biaggi's Moto3 team, which will close its doors after the Valenica finale. "Anything Can Happen"—Lin Jarvis T he MotoGP World Champi- onship will be decided this weekend at Valencia in Spain, and it will be a case of Yamaha hoping for a miracle if Fabio Quartararo is to close down Pecco Bagnaia's 23-point cham- pionship lead. Bagnaia only needs to fin- ish 14th or better if Quartararo wins, and although the Ya- maha crew knows it's a massive mountain to climb, team man- ager Lin Jarvis has taken solace remembering the time he was on the other side, when Valen- tino Rossi went into the 2006 Valencia finale eight points up on Nicky Hayden, only to crash out with Hayden going on to take the crown in the biggest last-race points overturn in history. "We're still in the fight," said Jarvis to Crash.net. "We should be happy about that. You never know, but we have to win the race, which is not easy, and our rivals will have to have a sort of setback, which is not the ideal way to win either... but in this sport anything can happen. "When we went to Valencia in 2006 Valentino was going to almost simply complete a formality by winning the race but the unthinkable happened, Valentino crashed and Nicky took the title. I know that Valen- cia is a very difficult track, so anything can happen." The 2021 Valencia MotoGP saw a win for Bagnaia on the fac- tory Ducati with World Champion Quartararo in fifth. CN Lin Jarvis is still holding out hope for a Valencia miracle for his man Fabio Quartararo.
