Fifty years ago, we focused on motorcyclists who competed in the Baja 1000,
no matter how many wheels were beneath them. The cover pictured Karl
Krohn and Tom Darby on a sidehack, Jack Zink on 450cc Husqvarna,
Larry Bergquist on a Harley-Davidson Sportster, and Malcolm Smith, who
had a broken leg, in a four-wheel buggy. Rolf Tibblin and teammate Gunnar
Nilsson took the motorcycle win in a record time of 19 hours and 19 minutes.
The Husqvarna duo finished second overall to four-wheel racer Parnelli
Jones... Ake Jonsson won the Trans-AMA Motocross at Carlsbad Raceway.
