Tonight Hames ground Goss ' 1981 15-laptrackrecordof 5:38 .91 down to 5:37.22, beating G ary Scott, T erry Poovey a n d Ted Boody wh ile doing it . The track was in top shape and sever al series h eat records were set . Whenit was main event time, into the south turn went H ames, Poove y and Scott. End of lap one, Poovey, on the n ew Honda , wa s m aking a g ood sh o w in g and leading it , then Scott, H ames, Boody, Rod Farris a n d T im Mert ens. Poovey held the lead for a few laps , th en Scott a n d H ames got past and p ro ceed ed to pull away a bit.
