Fernandez Clinches AMA East Hare

ax Fernandez clinched
the 2022 AMA East Hare
Scrambles Championship after
taking top honors at the Big Buck
HS in Harpursville, New York,
September 18.
The GasGas rider, Fernandez,
moved into the lead during the
first lap that took just over 26
minutes to complete. From there,
Fernandez took control and
never looked back for the win.
KTM rider Jason Tino was
right on Fernandez' tail after the
first lap but couldn't quite hang
with the GasGas riders' pace
and ended up finishing just 23
seconds behind Fernandez at
the checkers.
The top two finishers were
well clear of the next-best rider,
Yamaha-mounted Ian Potter. Pot-
ter held the position for most of
the race, taking the checkered
flag four minutes behind Tino.
Mark Fortner (Beta) finished
a class fourth, while Ben Wright
(Yamaha) rounded out the top
five overall.
The top A-class rider in sev-
enth overall was Husqvarna-
mounted Owen Barnes, while the
B-class championship went to
Cooper Davis.
Kyle Grenewicz was the top
250 A rider in eighth overall.
Joe Dennison was the top C
rider, and Mallory Eberhard was
the queen of the class in the
Women's division.
