ROUND 15 / SEPTEMBER 18, 2022 MOTORLAND ARAGON CIRCUIT / ARAGON, SPAIN P58 MAX RACING HUSQVARNA VS. FERNANDEZ FAMILY Moto3 qualifying was notable for the bizarre sight in pit lane when two members of the Max Racing Husqvarna squad stood in front of Adrian Fernandez's Tech3 KTM, blocking him from exiting pit lane. Further angles showed one of them grabbing hold of the Span- iard's front brake. Max Biaggi was aghast. "We publicly apologize to the Tech3 Racing Team and Adrian Fernandez," he wrote on Twitter. "An unsolicited, dangerous action that cannot be justified in any way by our code of ethics!" The FIM Stewards soon took action, banning them from the Australian and Malaysian GPs (it would've been the upcoming two, but visa complications would've left the Max Racing team light). It appears the technicians were attempting to stop Fernandez from following Ayumu Sasaki after he had done so throughout the day. Also, the Spaniard rode for Max Racing in 2021, when his hysterics and dour demeanor endeared him to no one. The plot thickened on Satur- day night, when Fernandez's father sought out a third technician, who also got involved, to headbutt him in the mouth. 2023 FORMAT CHANGES CONFIRMED Further details of the proposed changes to the 2023 MotoGP race format were announced on Saturday by Carlos Ezpeleta, Dorna's Chief Sporting Officer. There will be new timings over the weekend, includ- ing Friday's MotoGP sessions being called Practice, rather than Free Briefly... MOTOGP I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
