NEW JERSEY MOTORSPORTS PARK / MILLVILLE, NJ
P56
ROAD RACE I FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
teammate Petersen crashed out
on the final lap while hounding
Scholtz, pushing Gagne up to
third and gifting him three more
precious championship points.
Petrucci had earlier finished
fourth in race one with Yamaha's
Jake Gagne charging through
to the victory over teammate
Cameron Petersen and Westby
Racing Yamaha's Mathew
Scholtz to increase his title lead
to 13 points, the writing appear-
ing very much on the wall for
Petrucci and the Ducati team
until nature intervened.
In inclement weather, Petrucci
charged to the front at turn one
from the second row of the grid,
stretching his advantage to over
10 seconds with five laps to go
over Scholtz and Scholtz's South
African compatriot Petersen.
Gagne was mired back in
fourth and had a charging
Ashton Yates (Aftercare Hayes
Scheibe Racing BMW) hot on
his heels until the latter dropped
the bike with two and a half
laps remaining. For champion
Gagne, it would get better as his
New Jersey MotoAmerica Race One
Petrucci (1) begins to make
his break from Cameron
Petersen (45) in race two.
