IN THE WIND P32 AFT Updates Remaining Schedule P rogressive American Flat Track announced the expan- sion of the final two race week- ends of the season to conclude the 2022 campaign in a double- doubleheader fashion. The inaugural Drag Specialties Cedar Lake Short Track will fea- ture a unique twist on the double- header format, fitting two full points- and purse-paying Mission SuperTwins presented by S&S Cycle main events into a single evening on Saturday, September 24, at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Following the conclusion of opening ceremonies, the SuperT- wins will kick off the main event pro- gram with round 15 of the premier- class championship. Later that evening, the SuperTwins competi- tors will return to the track, joined by the participating Production Twins Challenge entrants, to cap off the day's activities with round 16. The Volusia Half-Mile finale at Volusia Speedway Park in Barber- ville, Florida, will then conclude the 2022 season with a conventional two-day doubleheader, featuring round 17 on Friday, October 14, and round 18 on Saturday, Oc- tober 15. The weekend will also represent the final two-thirds of the Progressive Triple Crown, which will pay the SuperTwins rider who collects the most combined points across the Laconia Short Track and double finale a $25,000 prize. Jared Mees leads the Super- Twins Championship, but Brian Bauman is nipping at his heels with four points-paying races left. Just nine points separates Mees from Bauman, and Dallas Daniels isn't all that far back in third. He's just seven points behind Bau- man and 13 points ahead of his Estenson Yamaha teammate JD Beach. Brandon Robinson is a distant fifth, just five points ahead of Jarod Vanderkooi. Kody Kopp has his hand on the Singles title with a 48-point lead over Morgen Mischler, who is just five points ahead of Trevor Brunner and another six points ahead of Dalton Gauthier. Jesse Janisch leads Cory Tex- ter by 17 points in the Production Twins Championship. Flag-to-flag coverage of both Mission SuperTwins main events will feature in the one-hour FS1 broadcast of the Cedar Lake Short Track scheduled to pre- miere on Sunday, October 2, at 10:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT. CN The remaining two rounds of the AFT Championship will be two doubleheaders. Jared Mees (1) leads Briar Bauman (3) by just nine points.
