We tested the Husqvarna 450 CR motocrosser. We said it was a great
straight-line handling motorcycle that you couldn't turn. Maybe that's why
it was so popular in the desert... We also tested the Montesa 123 Cota
Trials... Roger DeCoster outdueled Joel Roberts at the 20th Grand
International Motocross in Belgium... Tom Brooks and AC Bakken were
at it again, dominating the racing scene in the California desert.

LOOKING BACK
We interviewed new 250cc Motocross World Champion Danny LaPorte
who was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago. We also
had coverage of the Grand Prix of Sweden, where LaPorte wrapped
up the title... We had coverage of the Trophee des Nations, the World
Championship Team competition for 250cc motorcycles. The race was
held in Gaildorf, West Germany, and Team USA took the win with riders
David Bailey, Johnny O'Mara, Danny Chandler and Jim Gibson.
Chandler won both motos.
