H
istory will show that Eli
Tomac won the 2022
Lucas Oil AMA Pro Moto-
cross Championship 450MX title
by seven points over Chase Sex-
ton. But it was even closer than
that. After two thrilling motos at
the season finale at Fox Race-
way at Pala, the 450MX title
picture didn't come into focus
until the final few laps of the de-
ciding second moto. Until then,
the number-one plate was still
very much up for grabs. When
the dust finally settled, Monster
Energy Star Racing Yamaha's
Tomac emerged as the winner in
what was one of the closest and
most exciting championship fin-
ishes ever in the premier class.
It was a fitting way for Tomac
to close out his amazing outdoor
racing career. The now four-time
motocross champion, who turns
30 in November, says he's scal-
ing back his racing schedule to
just Supercross starting in 2023,
though Yamaha will undoubtedly
