(along with Parts Unlimited AFT
Singles), it marked Rush's first-ev-
er win on a twin; his two previous
Mission SuperTwins wins came
aboard 450s at the Daytona Short
Track back in the Grand National
Singles days.
It was a long, arduous jour-
ney back to the top of the box
for Rush, who is still limping off
the bike and only participating
in select rounds after suffering
a severely broken left leg in last
season's finale.
A teary-eyed Rush said, "I
never doubted myself. It's been a
rough road coming off the couch
and getting back to what I love
doing. These guys rode a hell of a
race, and I knew we had our work
cut out for us. Just a big shout out
to my team. I couldn't do it without
the Helipower Racing/Las Vegas
Harley-Davidson team. My
crew works their tail off and
it's an honor to ride these
bikes."
The evening also proved
fruitful for G&G Racing
Yamaha pilot Texter, who picked
up five points in the title fight on
Janisch. The two now stand just
six points apart with that same
number of races left to decide the
championship.
Pacific Auto Trim/Jim Speer Ya-
maha's Michael Hill rounded out
the top five to conclude his best
day yet as a professional.
