T
he 2022 edition of the Monster
Energy AMA Amateur National
Motocross Championship, now in
its 41st year, wrapped up Saturday, Au-
gust 6, after five days of intense compe-
tition at Loretta Lynn's Ranch, as the top
amateurs in the country competed for
coveted national championship awards
in 36 classes. Over 1500 entries filled
the starting gates.
During Saturday night's awards ban-
quet, a handful of riders were recognized
with special awards. The most prestigious
award an amateur can earn at Loretta
Lynn's is the coveted AMA Nicky Hayden
Amateur Horizon Award, which this year
went to GasGas Factory Amateur Race
Team's Caden Braswell based on his
performance in the Pro Sport classes.
Braswell won the very competitive
250 Pro Sport class after going head-to-
head with Team Green Monster Energy
Kawasaki's Ryder DiFrancesco and
Yamaha Amateur Factory Team's Gavin
Towers. Braswell returned later on
Saturday to grab second overall in the
Open Pro Sport division.
