BY CHRIS MARTIN PHOTOGRAPHY BY TIM LESTER A victory at the Peoria TT ranks high on the bucket list of just about every motor- cycle racer who even casually brushes up against dirt-track racing during their career. However, wins at the historic event do not come easily as they are selfishly hoarded by the gifted few who have un- locked its secrets. Despite an annual place on the Grand National Championship calendar dating back as long as the series has existed, the list of winners is relatively sparse. That's especially true in recent race his- tory, with an average of just over three different winners per decade going back nearly 40 years. This year's combined field counted just eight previous winners spread across all three classes. (Spoiler warning: that number would not grow on the day). Howev- er, for a race in which the outcome had sometimes felt preordained in the past, the odds were gloriously cloudy coming in with six of those eight previous winners destined to line up against one another in the Mission SuperTwins main event. Already set to be a clash of titans with modern-day TT master JD Beach prepared to defend his '21 race title versus the likes of '19 race winner Briar Bauman and rookie Dallas Daniels, who was practically born and raised to be Peoria's next grandmaster, this year's showdown took on a whole new level of intrigue with the late addition of Henry Wiles. ROUND 10 / JULY 30, 2022 PEORIA MOTORCYCLE CLUB / PEORIA, ILLINOIS P78 FLAT TRACK I FLAT TRACK / PROGRESSIVE AMERICAN FLAT TRACK JD Beach captures second consecutive Peoria TT victory, as the AFT title chase tightens up BEACH TAKES THE TT
