X Games Gold Handed Out O nce again, the world's best action-sports athletes com- peted at the X Games, which was held on July 21 in Ramona, California. Moto X is still a staple of the week's events, with disci- plines like Freestyle, Best Whip, Best Trick and Quarterpipe High Air dominating the skies. This year, all Moto X events were held at Axell Hodges' compound, Slayground, outside of San Diego. FREESTYLE Australia's Rob Adelberg stomped the competition in his first run with back-to-back front flips which ultimately earned him the gold medal. He completed the successive front flips 20 years after Mike Metzger landed his infamous back-to-back back- flips at the 2002 Philadelphia X Games. Germany's Luc Acker- mann grabbed the silver medal just ahead of Australian Josh Sheehan. BEST WHIP Best Whip is always a fan favorite for its display of style. The best whippers in the game brought out their biggest sends and IN THE WIND P44 Rob Adelberg came away with a pair of gold medals at this year's X Games in California. PHOTOS: ESPN Host Axell Hodges was second in the Best Whip competition, which was won by Julien Vanstippen.
